Pedal & Brass Limited (“we” or “us”) understands that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal data is used. We take your privacy very seriously and will always treat your information with care and respect.

In order to operate our website and to sell our products to you, we do need to collect certain customer information.  This policy sets out what personal information we collect, how we collect it and how we comply with our legal obligations.  Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions on any aspects of this policy.

What information do we collect?

Depending upon your use of our website, we may collect and hold some or all of the information set out below:

  1. Information relating to any transactions you carry out with us including the purchase of goods and our fulfilment of your orders;

Sharing your personal information

  1. such as our agents, suppliers, subcontractors and service providers (including those such as Shopify who we use to host and power our online store and Trustpilot who collate customer feedback, who both act as data processors);

  3. in order to comply with any legal or regulatory obligation;
  4. in connection with any legal proceedings (including prospective legal proceedings) or to protect our rights, property or safety (or any of those of any of our employees, customers or suppliers) including sharing information for the purposes of fraud protection.

Except as provided above, or otherwise specified in this Policy, we will not share your data with third parties.  In so far as your data is shared with third parties as permitted by this policy, we will take steps to ensure that your personal data is handled safely, securely and in accordance with your rights.

Where is your information stored?

We store some of your personal information in the UK.  Our web host Shopify, processes some of your personal information in Ireland and then may transfer it outside of Europe for storage and further processing, including Canada and the US.  Shopify take additional steps to protect your information safely and securely upon transfer outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”).  Please feel free to contact us for further information on the specific safeguards applied to transfers outside of the EEA.

All information is stored securely and is password protected.  All payment transactions will be encrypted.  However, transmission of information via the Internet is never completely secure and whilst we will take all reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent loss, destruction, alteration and misuse, we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

How long is my information kept for?

We will not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary in light of the reason(s) for which it was first collected.

Automated Decision Making

We do not engage in fully automated decision-making that has a legal or otherwise significant effect using our customer data.

Our data processor Shopify uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud that does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you.  Services that include elements of automated decision- making include:

  • Temporary denylist of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions. This denylist persists for a small number of hours.
  • Temporary denylist of credit cards associated with denylisted IP addresses. This denylist persists for a small number of days.

How do we use Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored on your computer when you visit some websites.  Like many other websites, Pedal & Brass Limited uses certain cookies to help you interact with our website and make it easier to use, by example, remembering your login details or what is stored in your shopping basket.  Cookies also help us to improve our site and your browsing experience.

  3. specify the personal data you want access to or specify which information is inaccurate and how it should be corrected or specify that you request erasure of information.

We may change this Privacy Notice from time to time. This may be necessary, for example, if the law changes, or if we change our business or practices in a way that affects personal data protection.

Any changes will be immediately posted on our website and you will be deemed to have accepted the terms of the Privacy Policy on your first use of our website following the alterations.
